It's free to play — just buy your food and drinks. Reservations aren't required but they're smart, since tables fill up. Book a spot at Luna and mention trivia, or RSVP on Meetup so we know you're coming. San Patricios takes reservations too.
Eight people max per table. Bring your own team — that's the rule. Solo or short a few? Come anyway, the room is friendly and you'll find people to join up with.
Five rounds a night, and the two venues play differently. Luna (Wednesdays) runs current events, general knowledge, an audio round, and two surprise niche rounds. San Patricios (Mondays) runs general knowledge, a spot-prize round, an audio round, a surprise category, and a crossword finale. Either way you don't need to be a pro — the mix means no single brain wins on its own.
Depends on the night. At Luna, first place takes a $50 gift card, second gets $25, and last place gets a free round of shots. At San Patricios, first place takes a $75 gift card, second wins a free round of mini frozen drinks, and last place gets a free round of green tea shots. Win the spot-prize round at San Pats and your table also scores free mini frozen drinks.
Two weekly nights, both at 7PM in Jersey City. Richard Lietz hosts Mondays at San Patricios (with DJ Marvilous on the decks), and UntriviallyJess hosts Wednesdays at Luna (279 Grove St). Both are five rounds and free to play, but each has its own format and prizes — so they're worth playing separately.
